Prepaid Phones are available at Turk Telekom branches, which provides local, national, GSM, and international callsin exchange of cash at Turk Telekom branches.
These phones are working either by a unit system or by minute. Before you make a phonecall ask at the counter how much it will cost to make a phone call to your homecountry, this way you will know how much per unit or per minute you are going to pay.
There is a box next to the phone, some phones have the digital screen on them, showing the units or the minutes you are spending, this way you are under control of your call and make decision when to end the call.
If you are coming with a mobile phone to Turkey, which it is a good idea, can be usefull in emercency, however can be very expensive if used excessively due to roaming charges. It would be a clever thing to do checking the cost of the calls and messages with your operater before travelling out of your country.
If you wish to use a Turkish Sim Card with you phone, make sure your phone is unlocked and able to use it with any sim card. If you are not sure if your handset is locked or unlocked , take it to your nearest Phone Shop and the sales assistant will tell you immediately.
You can purhase Turkish Sim Car on your arrivall at the Airport if you wish, by presenting your passport, which all your details on your passport will be taken in order to register your sim card. Without registeration, you can not optain a Sim Card. Using a Turkish Card on your mobile phone have the advantage of not paying for the incoming calls. Also, outgoing can be more cheaper.
POSTING SERVICES IN ISTANBUL
There are obviously Post Offices all around in Istanbul, which are providing the major services as any other post office would do around the globe. Posting Parcels and Letters anywhere in the globe, Phone Calls services, and Money Sending and receiving facilities.
If you are thinking of sending parcels, gifts and so on, then you can consider alternative postal services such as other private companies known as Kargo, Cargo, companies some are globely recognized, like DHL , MNG, Express Kargo, Aras Kargo.
