Turkey is amongst the few countries who are actively advertising their health industry due to significant improvements in the last decade with its quality patient treatment in its private hospitals which spreads radically to its state hospitals.

Istanbul ,obviously, do have both private and state hospitals in addition to private doctors surgeries where all kinds of serious treatments can be handled including serious illnesses.

If you are planning to go on holiday, it is advisable that you do take out travel insurance to be on the safe side as there is no free health service for foreign visitors. You must take the original travel insurance documents with you just in case anything happens, at least this way you can claim all your expenses when you come back from your holiday.

Especially private hospitals will help you in every way they can to sort out your paper work regards to insurance claims. Generally, State and Private run Hospitals in Istanbul, Doctors do speak good level of english.

Pharmacies "ezcane" in Turkey are open six days of the week, usuall office hours. There is allways a Pharmacy on Duty for 24 hours. This includes sundays aswell .

If you are in need of visiting a pharmacy whilst on holiday in Istanbul after office hours, you will see a notice placed on the window where it clearly explains which pharmacy is on duty for the night and all the contact details including the address with a map. This way you will not have any problem finding the nearest pharmacy, your taxi driver will know or simply locals will direct you to the address.

Sometimes it can help to pack known medications in your travel pack such as painkillers, rennies, constipation tablets, diarrehoea tablets in addition to ladies toiletries , which this way you will know what you are taking and dont need to go through all the stress and hassle.

Dentists "dis tabibi" are also plenty around in Istanbul. If you get any dental problem during your holiday late at night , you may find it difficult to reach a Dentist, well simply speak to your receptionist at your hotel, they will have the emercency mobile number of a dentist who will be more then happy to help you .

If you fancy a dental check-up dont hesitate to visit a dental practise as there wont be any que and the dental treatment prices are relativly cheap compared to EU, USA and UK
