POST AND PHONE IN SARIGERME
There is a Post Office in the Sarigerme Village.
Business Hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm In Turkish POSTANE or Short PTT ,Post office has got Western Union service to send and receive money from abroad. You can send your Postcards or letters, buy stamps.
Buy your stamps from the post office and you can save alot, rather then buying the stamps from the guy who sells you the postcards. In this way you can support the local post office and exprience in being in Turkish Post Office. Sofar as I know there is only one Post Office Officer working in this building, who delivers the post in the village, this is why you may find the building closed on unusual times.
He is there in the mornings and in the afternoons.I have used myself numerous times this post office and do find it a very good service provider. If you do live in Sarigerme or around , you should know that you can pay more or less all kinds of bills at the post office.
What if you do need a Bank ?
MASSIVE BILLS AFTER THE HOLIDAY
Did you know that you do get charged for receving calls when you are abroad ? It can be pretty much expensive especially if you have many friends who wants to talk to you often... Don't blame your network provider when you get your bill after your Holiday.
So, what one should do ?
Well , you do not answer the calls. Unless it is a matter of urgency.Do NOT check your emails or browse internet on your mobile, unless connected to WI-FI and make sure your mobile data is switched off.
Use phone cards (sold in shops and post office ) and use the phone-boxes. Or ,you buy a Turkish mobile with Turkish SIM card ,so the incoming calls will not effect your wallet Or you can add a bundle on your contract to use it abroad where you can receive for free upto 60 minutes free calls (e.g Orange network does it -please contact your network provider)
WERE CAN I TELEPHONE IN MOST ECONOMICAL WAY ?
Well, I would say The Post Office in Sarigerme.
CAN I USE MY MOBILE PHONE IN TURKEY ?
Yes you can , provided it is open to roaming. If you are not sure you can contact your provider and tell them that you are going to Turkey for Holiday and wish to have your phone open to Roaming. Most phones are nowadays allready open to roaming anyway, but you make sure you check it with your network operater. This information is for European phones only .
CAN I USE MY MOBILE PHONE IN TURKEY with Turkish Sim Card ?
Yes, if it is a Pay as you go phone and unlocked, though if you're planning to stay for more than a few weeks and wish to use a Turkish SIM card in a UK phone, you should bring your receipt and documentation for the phone with you and register it with Turkish Customs on arrival. If you don't do this, your phone will be cut off after few weeks.
TIP : Check the your Operaters website e.g Orange, O2, T Mobile, Virgin and make sure your phone is set to Roaming otherwise you will be not able to make or receive calls from home
A key part of any mobile phone specification is its operating frequency bands. The supported frequency bands determine whether a certain handset iscompatible with a certain network carrier.
Please note that buying a Turkish Simcard is not so straight forward as it is in england or in europe which does requires a registration. You do need to take your passport along with you to the phone shop. Relevant pages of your Passport will be photocopied in order to be faxed to relevant registra offices. You may find this frustrating and see as a privacy intrusion but this how it is unfortunatly.
